Alternative Acne Treatment

What To Do When Everything Else Has Failed

People have been using one alternative acne treatment or another since the dawn of the species. Of course, until "modern medicine" was developed, alternative acne treatments were the only choice.

These days, however, the medical community has developed hundreds (thousands?) of medicines and treatment options for us, and folks that use an alternative acne treatment are looked upon as being a bit dumb or uneducated. I mean, everyone knows that acne can't be cured, right?

This belief came about because of two landmark studies in 1969 & 1971 that appeared to show that acne basically had two causes: (1) a hormone imbalance or (2) a genetic defect. Either one of these conditions can cause your body to produce too much sebum oil, allowing acne breakouts to begin.

Sebum is a natural oil that your body uses to help keep your skin soft and pliable, and, in normal amounts, is quite beneficial. When, for whatever reason, your body produces too much of the oil, it tends to pool in skin pores and hair follicles. These pools provide a perfect breeding ground for the P-acne bacteria.

These bacteria are present on everyone's skin and, again, in normal amounts, are beneficial, providing protection from other, more harmful bacteria. When they breed to excessive levels, they begin to cause skin irritation and redness. Your body then sends white blood cells to fight the bacteria and, eventually, your skin pores and hair follicles are full of oil, bacteria, and white blood cells. I believe that you can see where this is going...

Anyway, since these conditions were created because of a hormone imbalance (teenage acne) or a genetic defect (adult acne), the medical community concluded that there was no way to cure acne, and the only thing they could do was to treat the symptoms of acne that appear on your skin.

And, because of these studies, the idea of finding an alternative acne treatment was summarily dismissed and relegated to the realm of myth. The conclusions they reached have been accepted as gospel by the medical community for years.

The problem is...more recent studies have found that those conclusions are wrong! It seems that the methods used in the earlier studies were flawed, mainly because once they discovered the genetic and hormonal connections to acne, they stopped looking for other causes.

Researchers in the later studies didn't stop looking, and found a number of conditions that will cause your body to produce too much sebum oil. They also found that many of these conditions responded very well to alternative acne treatments.

Believe it or not, it appears that the most effective alternative acne treatment involves your diet. Many of the foods you eat every day contain hormones (milk) and toxins (preservatives that can build up to excessive levels in your body. Mother Nature has programmed you to produce more sebum oil to emulsify these compounds and remove them by secreting it through your skin. This will produce the exact conditions we spoke of earlier, allowing acne to form.

To counter this, you can use the 3 day detox diet (fast, but temporary), or the acne cure diet (permanent, comprehensive). Either one is a very effective alternative acne treatment and will serve you well.

Another popular alternative acne treatment is Acnezine from HealthBuy.com. It attacks the obvious symptoms with a benzoil peroxide based skin cream, and the internal problem with a once-a-day herbal supplement that is designed to flush excessive hormones and toxins from your body.

The whole point here is...if whatever you're doing isn't working, don't be afraid to use an alternative acne treatment. It may just do the trick!
